Eleonora Lemo Estrada

Hello, it’s a pleasure to meet you. My name is Eleonora Lemo Estrada. I'm a writer and illustrator from Uruguay.
I would love to share with you a special project: my illustrated children’s novel, HIDAKI – Mystery on the Other Side of the River, already translated into English.
The story follows a girl named Hidaki who lived in a city heavily affected by pollution and industrial smog. Due to respiratory illness, her family moved to a remote cabin in the forest to care for her. When she turned 12, the forest around her started disappearing — first due to deforestation, and then severe flooding that took her home away.
Years later, five children discover that same abandoned cabin and find Hidaki’s diary — filled with her observations, memories, and wisdom about the forest. Through riddles and clues, the children realize they are being guided by Hidaki’s spirit — or perhaps the forest itself — and that there is still a way to restore what was lost.
This book is not only a mystery and an adventure, but a reflection on the importance of nature, friendship, empathy, and the courage to explore the unknown.
HIDAKI is currently being read in many schools across Uruguay. Teachers are using it to open discussions on environmental awareness, emotional expression, and creative storytelling. Some students have even adapted the story into plays, Minecraft worlds, and coding projects, recreating the atmosphere of the forest in interactive ways.
The novel is part of a trilogy called Seres de Luz (“Beings of Light”). The second book, KAI – Secrets Under the Sea, explores the underwater world. The third one, Izumi and the Unknown City of Canopus, is currently in progress.
I personally created all the illustrations, and I retain full rights to the book and artwork. I also own an independent publishing house in Uruguay.
I’d be happy to share a copy with you and explore possible collaborations.
